Strath Haven Band to Perform at Eagles Halftime

The biggest band in the land is going big time.  Strath Haven High School marching band landed a last minute invite to play the halftime show during this Sunday’s Philadelphia Eagles game against the Washington Redskins at Lincoln Financial Field.

It’s left parents of the 450 band members scrambling for tickets to see their kids play on the big stage. (Unfortunately, Fox will not be showing the halftime show on it’s TV broadcast).

On Monday night the band made the trip down to Lincoln Financial Field for practice on the NFL field to prep for Sunday’s show. It’s a busy weekend for the band, they also perform on the road at Garnet Valley on Friday night.

Strath Haven is also known for its large marching band. Under the direction of Jack Hontz, the band consists of about 425 students ranging from 9th graders to 12th graders. They are present at every football game, and also perform in many parades in the surrounding communities. The band wears t-shirts with the number “12” on then, signifying they are the “12th member” of the football team

After each football game, the football team runs towards the band and raises their helmets, showing their thanks for the band’s presence and support. Haven is also known for its large marching band.
