Delco Veteran’s Memorial: One Year Later

On May 13, 2013 Governor Tom Corbett and a host of local, state and federal dignitaries dedicated the Delaware County Veteran’s Memorial to the men and women of Delaware County who have given the ultimate sacrifice in all of our nation’s wars and conflicts. Wawa:50 Years in Delco

I remember my first Wawa like it was my first girlfriend.  The Providence Road store in Wallingford across from the Helen Kate Furness Library. That Wawa and I had a lot of good times together. Hoagies and Mountain Dew after soccer games. Sneaking Marlboro Lights behind the dumpster in high school. The “safe” meeting place after the cops chased us from local beer parties. And I hate to admit it but a few packs of gum from those shelves may have also made their way into my pockets over the years.  Good memories. You see, for most people a ... Read More »

Delco Diana: What It Means to be “Delco Family”

“…what it lacks in wealth, it makes up for in heart…” ~ Stephanie Farr of the Philadelphia Inquirer Farr was speaking about our home, Delaware County. Her words couldn’t be truer. Delco may not be the wealthiest county surrounding Philadelphia, but we truly do have the most heart and pride, in who we are, where we come from and in helping our neighbors. The quote was taken from an article written about Brayden Chandler, a little boy from Springfield who was battling Cancer, who captured the hearts of Delco. Brayden lost his courageous battle against yesterday, although this little ... Read More »
