Linvilla Orchards: A Delco Fall Tradition

If you think of fall in Delaware County, Linvilla Orchards is probably the first thing that comes to mind. If you grew up in Delco there was at least one autumn trip to Linvilla a year.  I can still smell the fresh baked apple pies coming from the bakery oven. I can taste the ruby red candy apples that would stick to my teeth. I remember the bumpy tractor hayrides through the orchards drinking hot cider on a crisp fall day.  And you wouldn’t leave without picking out the biggest pumpkin you could carry home. A lot has changed at ... Read More »

Wawa:50 Years in Delco

I remember my first Wawa like it was my first girlfriend.  The Providence Road store in Wallingford across from the Helen Kate Furness Library. That Wawa and I had a lot of good times together. Hoagies and Mountain Dew after soccer games. Sneaking Marlboro Lights behind the dumpster in high school. The “safe” meeting place after the cops chased us from local beer parties. And I hate to admit it but a few packs of gum from those shelves may have also made their way into my pockets over the years.  Good memories. You see, for most people a ... Read More »

DPTV:Delco Potholes

Pothole Problem We know it’s been a long winter for all of us. Especially for the guys behind the plows who helped keep our roads clear after a historic winter. On behalf of all drivers I say thank you.  But it’s time to get them back to work filling potholes.  Driving on Delco roads is like driving through a minefield.  Serious sinkhole sized potholes that have already caused accidents but also no doubt have forced countless trips to the mechanic and tire stores. PennDot says it’s already used more than 500 tons of asphalt and they’re dispatching 27 crews on ... Read More »
