Vintage Philly Videos

Before you even start. This is NOT a Delco story. So shut your trap before we go any further. But we thought this was interesting.

Here’s the deal. The City of Philadelphia has a whole secret stash of old videos.  But it’s not what you think. These films are historic archive videos of city sights, landmarks and some events. The city’s “Department of Records” just launched a new YouTube Channel showing off some of these invaluable vintage archival footage. Some of the video include the construction of Veteran’s Stadium, aerial footage and lots more.

The Philadelphia Department of Records maintains the Philadelphia City Archives, the official historical memory of the City of Philadelphia. With over 20,000 cubic feet of documents, maps, photographs, films, books, deeds, birth and death records, and many other materials, the City Archives preserves and protects the history of the City.  These videos are being release to the public for the first time.

Really cool stuff. Check out their YouTube channel here.
